First and foremost this was a real prison. It is a national landmark on 11 acres in Terror Behind the Walls.  The building is over 180 years old. This penitentiary once housed Al Capone.

Terror Behind the Walls, Philadelphia

It was abandoned in the 1970s. It is also one of the nations prime Halloween events, twenty years in the running.  One wonders what the former inmates might think of this.

Half the money collected for admission fees goes into preservation of the property.

There was a VIP tour in 2010 and one planned for 2011.  Their goal is to make you scared.

Really scared. And yes, it’s possible that someone (or something? might be lurking around the nearest corner or passageway.

Children under seven are not allowed on the property. Kids seven to twelve can only visit on family night – when the performers basically watch out for scared kids.  There might be insane prisoners and sadistic guards.
