Are you looking for a few baking ideas for Halloween? This is a perfect time to treat family and friends with a batch of tasty cupcakes with a splash of Halloween mixed in! Sure, many of us will still have to load up on candy for trick-or-treaters that ring your doorbell.
But there’s no reason you can’t whip up a little more personal while filling the air with the aroma of fresh baked goodness!
Halloween Cupcakes Recipe
If you’re worried about a possible lack of baking skills then set those fears aside. All of these suggestions are made from store-bought mixes.
And of course, you can use your own family tried and true cupcake recipe if you have one. Now let’s get started!
Candy Corn Orange Cupcakes
Halloween and Candy Corn go hand-in-hand so why not incorporate them into a cupcake recipe? Here’s all you need to do to pull this off! Pick up a box of orange-flavored cake or cupcake mix.
Prepare the recipe according to the instructions but with only a few small changes.
First, break up, or chop a handful or two of candy corn into small pieces. When you mix the batter simply toss them into the bowl. Bake the cupcakes and top with icing with several whole pieces of candy corn pressed in.
Black As Midnight Cupcakes
This works perfectly with any white cupcake mix and white cream or vanilla icing. Simply add several drops of black food coloring to your cupcake mix and to your icing. Start with a few drops and mix, add more food coloring as needed.
Black is not a color always included in a pack of food coloring but this option is sold through many larger grocery store chains.
You can always choose to dye either the icing or the cupcake mix for a nice contrast. Black icing and ghostly white cupcake… or the opposite.
Bobbing for Apples Cupcakes
Granted, younger generations may not know what the term “bobbing for apples” even means. But, who can’t resist a flavor-packed Spice Cake Cupcake with chunks or real apples mixed in? All you need is a store-bought box of Spice cake mix and an apple.
Follow the directions for making cupcakes and finely chop the apple. When you have the mix ready – toss in the apples and bake as you normally would and top with cream cheese or orange-flavored icing.
These are not spooky – but they are mouth-watering.
S’mores Cup Cakes Made Easy!
S’mores are a tradition when it comes to Fall and Halloween. Who can resist the texture and flavor of chocolate, marshmallow, and graham crackers? Here’s all you need to combine this classic treat into a cupcake!
Pick your choice of either white, yellow, or chocolate cake mix or cupcake mix. Grab a package of bite-sized chocolate bars, a box of graham crackers, and a jar of marshmallow cream. When you fill each space in your cupcake pan, leave some room to add a mini s’more.
Push the mini s’more into each cupcake and bake. While the cupcakes are baking, crumble some graham crackers and chocolate into a bowl. Add in some marshmallow cream, mix, and use as your cupcake icing
Short on Time?
Are you short on time? If so, just take your favorite cupcake recipe and add a Halloween twist. It could be as simple as adding orange icing, sprinkles in Halloween colors, or candy mini eyes as shown in the picture.
There are unlimited ways you can probably tweak standard cupcake recipes into seasonal Halloween cupcake treats. These are just a few suggestions but we would love to get your feedback on how you make your cupcakes spooky!
