Also, witches, unlike wizards or alchemists, are more oriented towards achieving intended results than in making new discoveries. In a way, they are more akin to engineers than the pure physicists.

Like any other discipline, witchcraft has to be learned. Some witches are taught the craft by others, some learn by themselves, usually with the help of DIY books and the many literature on the subject that are freely available on the Internet.

Of course, the greater majority of witches have to learn the craft the regular, old-fashioned way, which is by step-by-step progression, beginning with the basics until they take to heart the more advance teachings.

Finally, as with practitioners of other crafts, witches also form organized guilds, called covens, where they meet to share information, trade secrets, recipes for new spells and potions, or just to hang out with others of their own kind. Covens aren’t the secret organizations they are made out to be in the popular press. In fact, anyone with an open mind are welcome to join them. Solitary birds that they are, they prefer to practice and perfect their craft on their own and at their own pace, unhindered by peer pressure and group expectations.
